The 4th Purvītis Prize for achievements in visual arts in Latvia was awarded on 20 February 2015 to artists Miķelis Fišers.

Miķelis Fišers (1970) graduated from the Department of Monumental Painting at the Latvian Academy of Art (1993) and the Workshop of Painting (1995). Fišers has been exhibiting since 1994 and has had 14 solo exhibitions. He is considered to be a rebel of the 1990s generation, he works in painting, installation art, object art and stage design. Fišers’ creative work is united by a targeted interest in the unknown and the supernatural: UFO, conspiracy theories, mystical power places, esoteric processes and the human tendency to believe in these things. Fišers’ works are held in the collections of the Latvian National Museum of Art, the forthcoming Latvian Museum of Contemporary Art and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
